Why I’m Writing Whatever I Want

A Journey to making a living writing whatever I feel like

In the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic, I begin my journey to make a living writing what I want.

A week ago, I removed myself from Facebook and Instagram for personal use.

Both sites are bogged down with negativity (Facebook more than Instagram), and it is time to move away from that. I had no intention to write this article about this journey until I started reading articles on Medium and came across similar negativity where I least expected it.

I won’t use any names to refrain from calling out any other users from the site, but a man wrote an article venting about his trouble making a living as a writer. I could understand his gripe and connected with his words. He was venting and sometimes that’s nice to be able to do in article form on Medium.

Like most sites, he opened himself up to the criticism of strangers in the comment section and he got crushed.

The top comment stood out to me more than the rest. To paraphrase, the user claimed that the internet is packed full of nonsense and anyone who writes a blog is just adding to the “sh*t.” He…
